The island of Santorini is famous for its beaches with colorful sands that come from volcanic rocks on the eastern and southern sides of the island, as well as the sandy and smooth pebbly beaches on the western and northern sides of the island.
The Black Beach that stretches along the coast of the villages Perivolos, Perissa, Kamari and Monolithos, is the most frequented of all Santorini Beaches. Kamari Beach and Perissa
The village of Perissa lies on the southern part of Santorini, beside the stunning black beach and crystal-clear waters. Perissa possesses a wide variety of hotels, apartments and studios for rent that offer comfortable and relaxing accommodation. It also provides a selection of water sports facilities, diving schools and a water park, as well as cafes, bars and clubs by the sea. The village is situated just a few kilometers from Ancient Thira.
A feature that makes Perissa unique (besides the crystal water and the smooth sand) is the fact that is the best protected beach from the summer Aegean winds (called "Meltemia" in Greek).
